Beware the bots!
There is an ever-growing population of poker players out there who are
using a program to help them play and win in games where it rewards tight
aggressive play. The bots as some have termed them are found in the fixed
limit ring games and there is speculation that these programs do more than
just help to ensure perfect play. There is a chance this software (which
I'm not linking to; if you want to cheat, find out how somewhere else)
could be sharing information amongst its users. ie telling a player
they should fold by virtue of what another player might have. The
site I visited had instructions on how to get around the preventive
measures used (by Party and Poker Stars) to spot the bots by usi-9+ng 2
PCs instead of just one. Apparently it can be set up so that one PC cannot
see the other, therefore allowing the bot software to be monitoring what
is going on with the other PC; which of course is where the poker
software is kept.
